The Terache G3 Stage 1 Reduction offers a milder gear reduction than our original G3 reduction (Stage 2). On the 850/1000 XMR, Stage 1 delivers roughly a 12% reduction (see the chart for other models). It's the ideal choice for riders running an aggressive tire that's closer to factory height (within 1-2 inches true hight). Stage 1 also has less impact on top speed in both high and low range.
Oversized tires significantly reduce torque, throttle response, and overall drivability. They also increase load on the belt, clutches, and reverse chain, which can lead to increased heat, wear, and inefficiency. Lowering the gear ratio after sensitive drive train components is the best way to correct for oversized tires.
